Cyanoacrylate glue, commonly known as super glue, is another popular option, particularly for metal or resin models where plastic glue is not effective. This fast-setting glue is very versatile and can be used to quickly fix parts together. However, it can sometimes be too fast for last-minute adjustments, and it's important to use it sparingly to avoid visible excesses. It is particularly useful for small repairs or for gluing fragile parts such as the arms or weapons of miniatures.
PVA glue, often used for specific tasks such as fixing bases or creating scenery, is a water-based, non-toxic adhesive that dries clear. It is ideal for gluing materials such as paper, card, sand, gravel or foam to dioramas and figure bases. Although it's not suitable for assembling the figures themselves, it's perfect for texture detail and terrain construction. PVA also allows for adjustments before drying, making it a practical choice for creative modelling projects.
Epoxy glue is used for more complex projects or heavier parts that require an extremely strong bond. In the form of a mixture of resin and hardener, it has a longer setting time, allowing adjustments to be made before it has fully hardened. This type of adhesive is particularly suitable for large resin or metal parts, or for assemblies where unfailing strength is required.
