The Heresy of Horus is presented as a major chapter of conflict in Warhammer 40,000 history: it is caused by a plot by Chaos to defeat the leader and founder of the Imperium, the mysterious Emperor of Mankind, by fomenting rebellion and internal warfare in the expanding Imperium. The story focuses on the Emperor's 18 genetically engineered sons, the Primarchs, and the legions of genetically enhanced superhuman soldiers they lead, the Astartes Legions, who find themselves divided into loyalist and traitorous factions as they fight for religious hegemony.

Sometimes referred to as Warhammer 30k, The Horus Heresy game returns in a new, revamped version with new all-plastic miniatures.
