This artillery piece comes with a laser-cut oval MDF base (170mm x 105mm) – available exclusively through this webstore. Originally designed as an anti-aircraft gun, the 8.8cm Flak 37 – famously nicknamed the "Eighty-eight" by Allied forces – became one of the most feared anti-tank weapons of WWII, thanks to its high muzzle velocity and devastating firepower.
Deployed on all major fronts, from the deserts of North Africa to the Eastern Front, the 88 proved capable of destroying heavily armoured vehicles such as the British Matilda II and Soviet T-34 and KV tanks. In Bolt Action, the 88 can be fielded in Artillery Platoons using the 88mm Flak 36 entry. Mounted on a rotating platform and able to elevate, it can act as both a superheavy anti-tank gun and a medium howitzer. The weapon can also be towed into position by an Sd.Kfz 7 half-track.
