Produced by Fiat Ansaldo, the M13/40 served as the backbone of Italy’s armored forces during World War II, entering service in 1940. Though officially classified as a medium tank, its specifications were closer to those of light tanks used by other nations. It featured armor up to 42mm thick, a 47mm main gun, and up to four 8mm machine guns, operated by a four-man crew. Its diesel engine, while underpowered with a top speed of around 20mph, provided greater range and was less prone to catching fire than gasoline-powered alternatives.
The M13/40 was the most widely produced Italian tank of the war, participating in battles across the Western Desert and Italy. Despite being outclassed by Allied tanks in firepower, speed, and armor, it remained in service throughout the conflict. This detailed plastic kit allows you to build this iconic vehicle, or alternatively, assemble the Semovente 75/18—a self-propelled gun offering a much-needed boost to Italian armored support.
The Semovente mounted a 75mm howitzer on the chassis of the M13/40 or M14/41, with riveted steel plates and a vertically aligned double-layered front armor for increased protection. These vehicles were not used solely by Italian forces—captured M13s were used by Australians at Tobruk, and the Germans also fielded Semovente units. This kit includes a decal sheet with markings for the Italian army, German army, and Australian forces, giving you flexible options for your Bolt Action army.
Includes: 1 plastic tank model.
