This coastal defence bunker is based on the R612 and R680 designs, notable for their distinctive flanking wall. These bunkers typically housed 7.5cm anti-tank guns or 10.5cm field howitzers, delivering deadly firepower capable of striking invaders during their landing as well as covering adjacent sea areas.
The Atlantic Wall along the coasts of Northwest Europe was lined with hundreds of these bunkers, alongside similar types such as the R677-style anti-tank and flak bunkers. They formed a formidable barrier that British, Canadian, and US forces had to breach during the Normandy landings on D-Day. These fortifications were key to the German defensive strategy.
This plastic kit contains one hard plastic R612/R680-style bunker. It features a removable roof for easy access to your figures and fully openable rear doors that allow defenders to sally forth or attackers to attempt to breach this sturdy defense, adding a realistic tactical element to your wargaming experience.
