Stuart L. E. Wheatley, the ruthless and cunning owner of the Sassy Gal, built his boardwalk empire through hard work and merciless strategy. He is rumored to be involved in disappearances and deaths, as well as organizing road agents targeting vulnerable travelers. With the arrival of ‘Slick’ Dan Pottinger’s gambling parlor, ‘The Blue Canary,’ and the continued success of Kat Rogan’s bar, Wheatley now faces new challenges to maintain his control.
William E. Farnum, the Mayor of Dead Man’s Hand, is often seen as Wheatley’s puppet. Weak-willed and sycophantic, he curries favor with influential citizens. Caleb Harper, new to town, rents a pitch for his Dry Goods business from Wheatley. A former Union soldier and brief companion of Calamity Jane, Harper is diligent and good-natured, though some suspect he may serve Wheatley’s interests. Together, these characters add narrative depth, intrigue, and strategic opportunities to your Dead Man’s Hand scenarios.
