The new Kill Team mechanics provide commanders with more strategy and flexibility on the battlefield. Reconnaissance kill teams can now flank their opponents, dividing the killzone in two and scoring Victory Points for each half controlled. This defensive option rewards calculated movements and strategic control of the center. Search and Destroy kill teams can focus on Domination markers to allow their star operatives to eliminate enemy models, but must use them wisely, as these points can only be converted into Victory Points during the second half of the game.
Six new Operations complement the three classic Critical Ops – Secure, Plunder, and Transmission. The Restart Operation challenges players with a broken objective each turn, forcing commanders to choose between defending what remains or completing the Sacred Rituals of Deactivation or Reactivation. In the intriguingly named Orb Operation, a floating object disables an objective and can be sent to the opposing half of the table, turning the game into a high-stakes hot potato scenario.
The pack also introduces a new initiative mechanic, allowing players to manipulate dice rolls to better control the flow of the game. Initiative cards can be used to reroll or modify future rolls, stacking the odds for success at critical moments. Additionally, three new mission booklets add six fresh scenarios for Killzone: Volkus, Killzone: Bheta-decima, and the upcoming Tomb World Killzone, while six classic missions return for Killzone: Gallowdark and generic tables. With these new Critical Ops, Tactical Ops, and mission plans, Kill Team commanders have an expanded range of strategic challenges for the year ahead.
