Consequently, they made the strategic choice to equip a new generation of warships and support vessels with standardized gauge rails, facilitating the swift interchange of weaponry and supplies.

This foresight allows the Imperium to respond promptly to the demands of each unique operation without incurring the significant expenses and time delays associated with constructing entirely new vessels tailored to those specific requirements. If the situation calls for a vessel to conduct a shore battery bombardment, a Blucher cruiser can be swiftly reconfigured into an Augustus Bombardment Cruiser in less than a day. A noteworthy testament to this remarkable adaptability can be found at the Wilhelmshaven Imperial Shipyard, where the refitting of the warship Stralsund holds a remarkable record. The cruiser had just returned from a successful pursuit of corsairs along the Heligoland coast, and within a few short hours, the shipyard crew had removed the still-steaming Volt Gun Batteries and replaced them with the formidable Gustav Heavy Bombard.
