Players take control of different factions, each with its own unique units, powers and abilities. They compete using dice and following specific rules to determine the actions and outcomes of their miniatures.

The game is usually played in two teams, each trying to defeat the other by inflicting losses on their units and completing scenario objectives. Players can use different tactics and strategies to try and gain an advantage over their opponent, using combinations of movement, attacks and defence to try and throw the opponent off balance and gain an advantage.
