This fantastic plastic US Airborne Late WWII Paratrooper platoon includes enough components to assemble 30 highly detailed miniatures in M-1943 uniforms, with plenty of options for different weapon configurations and command models.
After proving their mettle in Sicily in 1943 and achieving legendary status during the D-Day landings in June 1944, the US Airborne divisions were temporarily withdrawn from the front to rest and re-equip. Now outfitted with the new green M-1943 uniform, designed to standardize supply across the US military, elite units such as the 101st "Screaming Eagles" and the 82nd "All American" were deployed in Operation Market Garden. This daring plan aimed to carve a corridor through Holland by parachuting in US, British, and Polish airborne divisions to capture key bridges.
Despite Market Garden’s failure, US paratroopers remained at the forefront of combat, later dropping into Germany in 1945 during Operations Varsity and Plunder—marking the crossing of the mighty River Rhine. Their heroic actions have been immortalized in film and television, with A Bridge Too Far and Band of Brothers serving as excellent sources of inspiration for these iconic soldiers.
