The Landing Vehicle Tracked (LVT) was a small amphibious landing craft introduced by the United States Navy, Marine Corps, and Army during World War II. The LVT-4 Buffalo was by far the most widely produced version, with over 8,000 units built.
Originally designed to ferry supplies from ship to shore, LVTs were quickly adapted for assault and fire support roles. As is often the case, troops gave them nicknames like “amphtrack,” “amtrak,” or “amtrac,” derived from “amphibious tractor.” With its large rear ramp allowing rapid deployment of troops, supplies, or light vehicles, the LVT provided significantly better protection to its passengers compared to traditional landing craft with front-mounted ramps.
Picture your USMC forces storming the beaches of Japanese-held islands in the Pacific, Commandos launching daring assaults across the Scheldt Estuary in Holland, or British, American, and Canadian troops crossing the Rhine during Operation Plunder. The LVT-4 Buffalo played a crucial role in these historic battles, making it an excellent addition to any amphibious force looking to recreate these legendary encounters.
The box includes one resin and metal LVT-4 Buffalo Amtrac model, an order dice, a waterslide decal sheet, and various game accessories.
Models supplied unassembled and unpainted.
