Although a siege of Venice was never attempted in 1795, certain weapons remain highly useful in urban combat. The massive scorpion crossbow is one such weapon employed by Vatican forces. Large and intimidating, it represents the long-range firepower that disciplined fighters can bring into the narrow alleyways of the canal city.

Taller than a man, this weapon can only be carried by the strongest combatants, usually assisted by a choir boy who helps transport the bolts and stabilize aim. The bolts are typically used to pierce wooden supports and weaken walls, but they are equally effective at knocking rooftop enemies into the crowded streets below. This ability to control battlefield positioning makes the weapon a valuable tactical asset.

This set includes one Scorpio marksman and his small assistant. The heavy armor, classic crusader helmet, and choir boy robes make this miniature an excellent painting project for hobbyists. The Vatican gang favors a strategy where mobility is secondary, but long-range impact power compensates for slower movement. The Scorpion Marksman helps maintain pressure on opponents while pushing enemies back with the force of its bolts.
