Hearthguards

Throughout most of their military history, hearthguard warriors were mainly assigned to internal guard duties within citadels. They protected fortress entrances, royal halls, and vital storage areas essential to the survival of dwarf clans. With the outbreak of the Last War, Mounthaven’s military strategy gradually evolved to allow their deployment in open battlefields. This change enables their defensive expertise to be used as heavy frontline support in more mobile combat situations.

On the battlefield, these warriors are valued for their stamina and their ability to maintain stable defensive lines under enemy pressure. Their standard equipment includes a dwarf battle axe optimized for melee combat, a large frontal shield providing strong protection against ranged attacks, and heavy armor designed for extended fighting. Hearthguard units are especially effective when defending strategic objectives, supporting allied advances, or protecting more vulnerable troops.
