The Athanatoi were forerunners to the highly regarded Praetorians, and their origins remain veiled in the myths and legends that swirled around the creation of the Dominion and its early military forces. With an expressionless and unyielding demeanor, they embodied the divine will of their gods in mortal form. The number of Athanatoi in the ranks was restricted to one thousand, replenished with the most skilled warriors the Dominion could provide if one of them were to fall in battle. Even in death, they continue to serve, imparting divine judgment upon anyone foolish enough to stand against these immortals.
