The Vreib possessed a naturally evolved chameleonic ability that allowed them to evade or manipulate the many predators of their homeworld. When their species joined the Watcher Hegemony, this talent was recognized as uniquely valuable. The Watchers spend centuries observing and studying sentient species across the galaxy, and thanks to the Vreib’s genetic gifts, it became possible to infiltrate these societies, live among them, and even think as they do.
During the process of hyper-evolving the species into the Cerulean Clade, this remarkable mimicry was taken to an extreme. Ceruleans combine mental and physical transformation to become near-perfect copies of a targeted individual. They can replicate clothing, equipment, vocal patterns, and even surface thought processes. Their only limitations are a mass differential of approximately 46% and the inability to remove mimicked items, as those objects are in fact part of their own body.
The majority of infiltration missions involving the imitation of rank-and-file groups are carried out by Infiltrator Myriads, smaller than Vixens and Primes but no less intelligent or dedicated to their task. On Earth during the Dystopian Age, the Ceruleans are among the most valuable assets the Watchers possess for maintaining secrecy. They infiltrate key sectors of human society, authority, and politics to misdirect attention and identify threats to the Watchers’ ultimate mission.
