Commisar Gregor Drugov

Although the Ursus soldiers possessed tremendous physical strength, their atavistic nature left them lacking in imagination and tactical judgement. Soviet scientists therefore developed a new process designed to retain the Ursus's physical advantages while restoring the intuition and reasoned thinking associated with human intelligence. Drugov was identified as an ideal candidate and willingly submitted to the procedure.

The operation pushed Soviet science to its limits. Drugov died three times on the operating table as his body underwent extreme modification, only to be revived each time so the procedure could continue. Following a lengthy recovery, he displayed many of the Ursus's physical enhancements without their bestial side effects. His notorious ferocity remained intact and, by some accounts, had become even more pronounced.

Drugov's shock assaults have since proved so devastating that both Allied and Axis forces have issued standing orders to eliminate him with extreme prejudice whenever he is encountered. Despite these directives, no soldier or agent has yet succeeded in bringing him down.

This miniature depicts a fearsome combatant whose enhanced physical capabilities are matched by an uncompromising ideological commitment, making him a dangerous presence on the battlefield.
