Each event card costs 50,000 of your total match budget and is drawn at random at the start of a round. You could recruit an herbalist at ringside, see the crowd rise and leave, or even discover that one of your wrestlers has switched sides to join your opponent! With event cards, anything can happen, for better or for worse. It's all a question of luck!
