Italian Alpini Mountain Troops

Under Mussolini’s regime, the Alpini were reorganized into six divisions in 1935, with three sent to the Eastern Front alongside German forces. Trained for mountainous terrain, they were instead deployed along the flat plains of the Don River to face Soviet tanks. Despite these challenges, the Alpini displayed remarkable determination, breaking out of encirclement and surviving one of the harshest retreats of the war. They also fought in France, Greece, Albania, Yugoslavia, and as far as East Africa. After Italy’s 1943 armistice, the 3rd Alpini Division joined the Allies, while the 4th continued to fight with the Germans.

This box includes enough plastic components to build 30 28mm scale Alpini miniatures, with a wide range of customization options. Weaponry includes the M91/41 rifle, M38 Carcano carbine, M91/38 cavalry carbine, Beretta M38A SMG, Breda M30 LMG, Beretta M1934 pistol, and combat knives. You can outfit your soldiers with either M33 steel helmets or traditional alpine caps. Also included are plastic bases, a full-color waterslide decal sheet, and an assembly guide. The models are supplied unpainted and unassembled—perfect for recreating Italy’s elite mountain infantry in your Bolt Action force.
