Italian San Marco Marines Infantry Section
Under Mussolini’s command, the single San Marco marine battalion took part in Italy’s Abyssinian and Albanian campaigns. As the conflict escalated, a second battalion was formed, creating the Reggimento San Marco. This elite formation became the backbone of the Forza Navale da Sbarco, Italy’s naval landing force, and was deployed in several amphibious operations throughout the Mediterranean theatre.
The San Marco Marines were involved in landings along the Dalmatian coast and on various Greek islands, and later took part in counter-insurgency operations in Montenegro. Their training, discipline, and adaptability in coastal warfare made them a valuable asset. By 1942, a third battalion had been raised and sent to North Africa, where it earned distinction for its actions during the battles around Tobruk, showcasing impressive resolve against Allied forces.
This box contains 9 finely detailed 28mm metal miniatures representing San Marco Marines, along with plastic bases and a full-colour waterslide decal sheet. These models are an excellent addition to any Bolt Action Italian army, ideal for portraying amphibious assaults, urban warfare, or anti-partisan actions. Supplied unassembled and unpainted, this set brings a historically significant and tactically versatile unit to your tabletop force.
