Italian Army Guastatori Destruction Group
At the beginning of World War II, the Italian Army lacked any specialist assault engineering units capable of tackling enemy fortifications. Observing the success of German pioneers during the blitzkrieg, Italian military leaders saw the need for similar capabilities. This led to the formation of the Guastatori del Genio, elite combat engineers trained from late 1940 to perform demolition, sabotage, and close-quarters assault operations.
By early 1941, the first Guastatori units were deployed to North Africa, where they quickly saw action. Their effectiveness in breaching enemy defenses, clearing minefields, and launching surprise assaults made them a valuable asset on the battlefield. By mid-1942, Guastatori had also been committed to the Eastern Front, and during the Allied invasion of Sicily, the 11th Guastatori Battalion fought alongside the "Livorno" Division in a determined defensive effort.
This box includes 10 finely detailed metal miniatures representing Italian Guastatori engineers in 28mm scale. The set features one NCO with rifle and pistol, two two-man flamethrower teams, two engineers with rifles and Bangalore torpedoes, and three additional engineers with rifles. Plastic bases are included. These figures are ideal for representing Italy’s elite assault engineers in Bolt Action, offering strong tactical options and adding character to your tabletop forces.
