Old Dominion: Centaur Prodromoi

Unlike the more docile Minotaurs or the cunning Satyroi, the Centaurs were simply too primitive to integrate effectively into human society. The vast majority nevertheless found their place as Prodromoi, scouts and border patrollers operating within an organised tribal structure, reinforcing the Legions with formidable vanguard and harassment forces. A handful, the most ardent and pious among them, were selected for further training, becoming an elite unit of messengers for the Pantheon: the Kyrikes, or Heralds, capable of delivering the messages of their gods even in the midst of raging battle.

The Prodromoi ride ahead of the legions to explore the battlefield and challenge enemy Light Regiments trying to push their reinforcement lines forward. Although they are very powerful in attack, the Prodromoi's Souvenirs du Passé ability allows their damage potential to increase as the battle progresses, making them a competent shock regiment as the game progresses.
