Old Dominion: Centaur Kerykes

Unlike the more docile Minotaurs or the cunning Satyroi, the Centaurs were simply too primitive to integrate effectively into human society. The vast majority nevertheless found their place as Prodromoi, scouts and border patrollers operating within an organised tribal structure, reinforcing the Legions with formidable vanguard and harassment forces. A handful, the most ardent and pious among them, were selected for further training, becoming an elite unit of messengers for the Pantheon: the Kyrikes, or Heralds, capable of delivering the messages of their gods even in the midst of raging battle.

Kyrikes add an important element of ranged combat to the forces of the Old Dominion. Although their flight characteristics are average, they more than make up for this with their ability to ignore intermediate terrain when firing from a distance and inflict extra damage on the target.
