Legiones Astartes
In the miniatures game ‘Warhammer: The Horus Heresy’, the Astartes Legions represent the first twenty legions of Space Marines created by the Emperor of Mankind during the Great Crusade. Each legion, led by a Primarch, was made up of genetically modified warriors, the Space Marines, forming formidable armies destined to reconquer the galaxy. The size of these legions varied, with some averaging 100,000 Space Marines, while the Ultramarines could number up to 250,000.

The internal organisation of the Astartes Legions was hierarchically structured to maximise their effectiveness on the battlefield. Each legion was commanded by its Primarch, assisted by an honour guard and various advisors. Legions were subdivided into companies of around one hundred Astartes, each made up of nine squads. These companies were grouped into battalions, which in turn formed chapters. Although sharing a common structure, each legion adopted specific names for its units and ranks, reflecting its unique identity.
In ‘Warhammer: The Horus Heresy’, players can recreate the epic battles of that era by commanding armies representing the various Astartes legions. Each legion has its own specific characteristics, tactics and units, offering strategic and aesthetic diversity. The detailed miniatures allow hobbyists to customise their armies with the distinctive colours and symbols of each legion, immersing players in the rich and complex world of the Horus Heresy.
