Us Army (winter) Support Group (hq, Mortar & Mmg)
Caught off guard and poorly equipped for Hitler’s final gamble in the West – the Battle of the Bulge – US troops fought tenaciously, overcoming not only the German offensive but also the extreme winter conditions that tested their endurance and determination.
To combat the bitter cold, US Army soldiers donned greatcoats, Mackinaw jackets, and any additional layers they could find. Despite the harsh environment, they engaged in fierce battles against Italian and German forces, securing numerous victories. Aware of enemy snipers targeting them, American officers dressed and armed themselves similarly to their troops to avoid detection.
The reliable .30 Cal medium machine gun provided devastating firepower to GI squads, further supported by the precise suppressive fire of 81mm medium mortars. This set includes three officers armed with carbines or rifles, one medic, one radio operator/spotter, one medium mortar team, and one MMG team. Models are supplied unassembled and unpainted.
