US Marine Corps Weapons Teams
Infantry weapons teams are a key component of any Bolt Action army, offering great tactical flexibility on the battlefield. Among the most prevalent are sniper teams, anti-tank teams, and flamethrower teams, each presenting a significant challenge to the enemy.
The American Bazooka was first used in North Africa and at Tarawa in November 1942. The early M1A1 modelfeatured two grips and a wooden support. By 1943, an improved version was introduced, removing the front grip and enhancing the electric firing system. The final version was 1.55m long, increasing the effective range from 200-250 yardsto 300 yards. Its M6 HEAT rocket could penetrate 76mm of armor at 30 degrees or 110mm at 90 degrees.
Scouting and sniping were closely linked in US military doctrine. The manual clearly stated that a sniper’s primary role was to eliminate enemy officers, undermining enemy morale. Snipers were equipped with a M1903 Springfield bolt-action rifle fitted with a telescopic sight, along with close-combat weapons like pistols and shotguns for self-defense if discovered. Both team members were trained snipers, allowing them to switch roles between shooter and spotter as needed.
Flamethrowers were extensively used throughout the war, particularly in the Pacific, where they were crucial for clearing bunkers and tunnels, as well as breaching fortified positions.
