The Sd.Kfz 251/16 is a fearsome variant of the iconic German Sd.Kfz 251/1 Ausf D half-track, modified to serve as a close-support flamethrower vehicle. This devastating conversion was equipped with two fixed flame projectors mounted on either side of the vehicle, designed to flush out entrenched infantry and wreak havoc in fortified or urban environments. It brought a new level of infantry support through brutal short-range firepower.
In addition to the two main flamethrowers, the vehicle retained the standard forward-mounted MG34 or MG42 for self-defence and featured a portable flamethrower, tethered by hose to the half-track, for use by dismounted troops.
