The Sd.Kfz 250/1 was a light half-track used extensively by German reconnaissance and HQ units during World War II. It was a shortened version of the well-known Sd.Kfz 251 Hanomag, sharing its adaptability and serving as the basis for numerous variants. With space for six crew members including the driver and co-driver, the vehicle was armed with two pintle-mounted MG34 machine guns—one shielded and forward-facing, the other mounted to cover the rear and air threats—making it a reliable and versatile battlefield platform.
This kit represents the early-war 'Alte' (old) model, which remained in active service across all fronts with both German and Romanian forces. Even as the updated 'Neue' version began to replace it from 1943 onwards, the Sd.Kfz 250 Alte continued to fulfill crucial roles due to its reliability and ease of maintenance. It was especially useful in roles ranging from ammunition and cable transport to radio communication and battlefield coordination.
The box includes enough components to build one of three variants: the standard Sd.Kfz 250/1, the command version Sd.Kfz 250/3 equipped with a large aerial frame—famously used by Field Marshal Erwin Rommel in his personal command vehicle "Greif"—or the Sd.Kfz 250/10 fitted with a 3.7cm PaK 35/36 anti-tank gun. The kit also includes multi-pose crew figures with separate heads wearing either regular or winter gear, a figure of Rommel himself, full-colour waterslide decals, Bolt Action stat cards, a detailed assembly and painting guide, and vehicle damage markers. A fantastic addition to any German Bolt Action force seeking character and historical accuracy.
