The Guardian Mark II traces its origins to a personal request from Winston Churchill to Franklin D. Roosevelt, which resulted in several Coyote light walkers being shipped to the United Kingdom in late 1946. Many of these machines were swiftly deployed to the front lines without modification, entering service as the Guardian Mark I, where they proved generally effective in an infantry support role.
Field reports soon identified a key shortcoming: the Guardian’s armament was insufficient for its intended purpose. To remedy this, a flamethrower was mounted in the walker’s left arm. Despite the additional weight, the vehicle’s overall performance remained unaffected, retaining its mobility and battlefield effectiveness while significantly increasing its close-support capabilities.
Designated the Guardian Mark II in Commonwealth service, these walkers operate alongside unmodified Guardian Mark Is and together form the backbone of the Commonwealth’s light walker forces. This miniature is a fitting addition for players and collectors alike, offering strong narrative flavour and visual presence. The set contains one resin and metal miniature, supplied unassembled and unpainted, allowing full freedom for assembly and finishing.
