Xenophon Battlefleet Set

Beams of particles pierced the hulls of the Alliance ships as the men still ran to their battle stations. The screams of steel and souls were drowned out by the shrill cries of the Enlightened's Scythian fighters as they strafed the unprepared ships, compounding the damage already done. Finally, as the chaos spread across the Alliance fleet like a palpable cloud, the Lovelace cruisers made their entrance. Striking at the heart of the enemy, their green rays pierced through the armour plates and penetrated the gaping holes in the superstructure of the larger ships that had not yet sunk.

It was all over very quickly, and the victims of the attack would never know why. Perhaps it was a territorial dispute or a more esoteric motive in the minds of Enlightened officers. By the time the submersible ships disappeared beneath the waves again, there was almost nothing left to show what had happened. A few burning oil slicks, a forgotten lifeboat, and some debris likely to interest the next passers-by.
