Built on the reliable Panzer III chassis, the Stug III Ausf D was equipped with a 75mm StuK 37 L/24 cannon. Designed primarily for infantry support, this short-barrel gun was highly effective against fortified enemy positions and early war tanks, making the vehicle a crucial asset in the early German campaigns. The Ausf D represents one of the earliest iterations of the successful Sturmgeschütz series.
Though often overshadowed by the more famous “Big Cats” like the Panther and Tiger tanks, the Sturmgeschütz line was arguably the most successful German armored vehicle program of the war. Stugs were deployed across every front, with some estimates crediting them with the destruction of over 20,000 enemy tanks by 1944. Their low profile made them hard to hit and ideal for ambush tactics.
This resin and metal model includes a full-color waterslide decal sheet, damage markers, and a Bolt Action stat card. The Stug III Ausf D functions in Bolt Action as a versatile assault gun. Historically, these vehicles were manned by German artillery crews rather than tank divisions, which is reflected in their distinctive field-grey uniforms and doctrinal role.
