The Panzer II was one of the most important vehicles in the early years of World War II, forming the backbone of Germany’s Panzer divisions during the Blitzkrieg campaigns. Widely deployed in Poland, France, and North Africa, this light tank played a key role in the rapid advances that characterised Germany’s early-war successes. The Panzer II also saw extensive action during Operation Barbarossa, the invasion of the Soviet Union. While gradually replaced in frontline service by the Panzer III and Panzer IV, it continued to serve in secondary roles and training formations throughout the war. Its widespread use and long service life have made it one of the most recognisable German armoured vehicles of the conflict.
