Polished steel helmets, heavy cavalry mounts and imposing blue uniforms made the Dutch and Belgian Carabiniers some of the most striking cavalrymen on the battlefield during the Waterloo campaign.
Serving within Wellington’s Allied Army during the Hundred Days of 1815, the cavalry forces of the Netherlands included both Dutch and Belgian regiments reorganised after years of Napoleonic conflict. Many troopers had only recently fought in Napoleon’s armies, bringing valuable combat experience into Allied service.
Under the command of General Trip van Zoudtlandt, these heavy cavalry regiments saw repeated action during the Battle of Waterloo. Their role was to support Allied infantry lines, counter enemy cavalry and intervene during critical moments of the fighting.
This boxed set provides an excellent heavy cavalry unit for Black Powder, adding both visual impact and battlefield presence to any Waterloo-era Allied army.
The gleaming helmets, dynamic cavalry poses and distinctive uniforms make these carabiniers especially impressive once assembled into charging formations on the tabletop.
Balancing former Napoleonic experience with new Allied loyalties, these cavalrymen played an important role during the final defeat of Napoleon at Waterloo.
