City States: Aristarch

In most City States, the bureaucratic machinery is filled through a rigorous civil service examination. However, there exists an exception - the Aristarch. The Aristarchos is chosen directly by the ruling authority of the City State, whether it be a Council, Tyrant or even a God, from the pool of Aspirant Polemachoi. The Aristarch embodies all the virtues of the City State and is tasked with leading its forces during campaigns. The Aristarch is subjected to even more rigorous testing and training than the Polemarch. Their studies focus on strategy, philosophy, politics, and economics, preparing them to serve as a general, ambassador, or governor as needed, in order to promote the power and glory of their City.
