City States : Dorilates

The Hoplites know that the difference between victory and defeat lies in the strength of the Phalanx, and they focus their efforts on the integrity of their shield wall. The more astute veterans among the Hoplites understand that defending alone will cause the phalanx to collapse under unchallenged enemy pressure. Therefore, they turn to the Dorilates, the spear masters among their ranks, to set the pace and angle of their attacks, supplementing the Phalanx's defensive power with increased aggression.

Their Fighting Style

As a veteran Hoplite, the Dorilates train and coordinate the formation of the shield/pike wall. When the regiment collides with the enemy formation, the Hoplites/Phalangites unleash a rapid salvo of spear/pike strikes, forcing the enemy soldiers to cower, lower their heads and ultimately cause them to expose the weaknesses of their formation.
