As the Union expands its influence and seeks to consolidate its power across the globe, the long-range cruisers Chicago and their sister ships are proving indispensable. Their ability to operate for long periods without refuelling helps secure the Union's remote territories in the Federated States. Battle fleets often incorporated several classes of long-range ships, from the long-range bow cruiser Philadelphia, equipped with the devastating weapons designed by Tesla, to the long-range support ship Nashville, with its vast supply reserves for extended patrols. Then there are the Akron observation rotors, veritable eyes in the sky, capable of detecting threats from miles away, as well as the Farragut frigates, fast and manoeuvrable, and the Puritan underwater automatons, ready to strike from the depths at the right moment.
