The Cromwell was the most widely produced British cruiser tank of the European theatre during World War II. Armed with a powerful 75mm gun and featuring strong cross-country mobility, it was a capable match for the German Panzer IV. Although it struggled against heavier German tanks like the Panther and Tiger, the Cromwell was a key asset for the British 7th Armoured Division, as well as the armoured reconnaissance regiments of the Guards and 11th Armoured Divisions.
The 6th Airborne Armoured Reconnaissance Regiment also fielded about eight Cromwells during the Normandy campaign and continued to use them through the bitter winter fighting in the Ardennes. A typical tank troop would consist of three Cromwells supported by a Firefly, offering a balanced mix of firepower and mobility.
This kit includes optional parts such as the Culin Prong hedgerow cutter, perfect for recreating scenes from the Normandy bocage. It also comes with a full-colour waterslide decal sheet, giving you the choice to represent British, Canadian, or Polish units. The Cromwell can also be used in "Achtung Panzer!", the close-quarters tank combat game. Model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
