The kit is packed with optional extras, including helmet choices (steel helmets, assault helmets, and Tam o’Shanter caps for Scottish and Canadian troops). A variety of weapons are also included: Lee Enfield No. 4 rifle, Bren light machine gun, Sten submachine gun, 2-inch light mortar, PIAT anti-tank projector, Webley service revolver, Mills Bombs, plus additional accessories and command options.
A British infantry squad was referred to as a section, usually consisting of ten men divided into a rifle group and a Bren group. Each section was led by a corporal, armed with a rifle or pistol, and included a lance corporal who commanded the Bren group. Apart from the corporal, all section members carried ammunition for the Bren, totaling 700 rounds across 25 magazines. Additionally, each man carried grenades. As the war progressed, more weaponry became available. Section leaders and their second-in-command were often issued Thompson or Sten submachine guns, though these were sometimes quietly "lost" to avoid making them prime sniper targets. In the later stages of the war, many veteran sections were equipped with a second Bren gun, whether officially sanctioned or not.
Canadian infantry sections followed the same structure as their British counterparts. From 1943–45, due to the Canadian practice of mounting MMGs and HMGs on Universal Carriers, spare Bren guns became available to some infantry sections. All three Canadian infantry divisions were trained in amphibious landing operations. Canadians took part in landings at Dieppe, Sicily, Italy, Normandy, the Breskens Pocket, and the Rhine crossing. The 3rd Canadian Infantry Division conducted so many amphibious assaults that Field Marshal Montgomery nicknamed them the "Water Rats."
