In 1940, as Britain stood on the brink of a potential Nazi invasion, a call went out for civilian volunteers to defend the homeland. The Local Defence Volunteers—later known as the Home Guard—was formed from men too old or otherwise unfit for regular service, but still ready to protect their families and communities. Despite limited equipment and outdated weapons, the Home Guard became a key symbol of British resilience and unity during the war.
The beloved television series "Dad’s Army" was inspired by these volunteers and brought their story to life with humor and charm. Following the fictional Home Guard unit of Walmington-on-Sea, the show introduced audiences to unforgettable characters and iconic catchphrases, capturing both the spirit and absurdities of wartime Britain.
This box set includes 18 finely detailed miniatures sculpted by Paul Hicks, representing the main cast of Dad’s Army in both civilian and Home Guard uniforms. Featured characters include Captain Mainwaring, Sergeant Wilson, Lance Corporal Jones, Privates Pike, Walker, Frazer, and Godfrey, along with Warden Hodges, the Verger, and Reverend Farthing. The set also comes with plastic bases and a leaflet explaining how to field these figures in Bolt Action games. Models are supplied unassembled and unpainted.
