Originally designed in Czechoslovakia as the LT vz. 38, this light tank became widely known as the Panzer 38(t) after Germany occupied the country in 1938. The “t” stands for “tschechisch,” the German word for “Czech.” Well-regarded by its crews for its mechanical reliability, ease of repair, and agility, over 1,400 units were produced and saw combat in Poland, France, and on the Eastern Front.
Its light weight made it ideal for reconnaissance missions and fast assaults, but as enemy armor improved, its gun became inadequate. Production of the 38(t) ceased in 1942, yet the vehicle continued to serve throughout the war in the German, Hungarian, Romanian, and Bulgarian armies. The included decal sheet allows for accurate customization for each of these national variants.
In Bolt Action, the Panzer 38(t) functions as a light tank armed with a light anti-tank gun and can be included in armored platoons. This 1/56 scale plastic model comes with a full-color waterslide decal sheet, Bolt Action stat card, vehicle damage markers, and an assembly guide. Historically, the 38(t) chassis proved so reliable that it served as the foundation for several successful variants such as the Hetzer, Marder, and Flakpanzer.
