The iconic British field gun of WWII and beyond, the QF 25-pdr (Quick Firing) excelled in both direct fire and howitzer roles. Despite its relatively modest calibre, it outranged most equivalent artillery pieces of the era. Its accuracy and rate of fire, enhanced by the efficiency of British gunners, made it a battlefield legend.
German and Italian troops were reportedly so stunned by its rapid volleys that they assumed the gun was fully automatic! Usually towed by the dependable Morris C8 “Quad” artillery tractor and a limber, the 25-pdr was a mobile and effective support weapon, especially prominent in North Africa during the fight against Rommel’s forces.
