The M3 Medium Tank saw service with British, American, and Soviet forces during WWII. To simplify battlefield communication, the British assigned nicknames to US tanks—naming the original M3 the “Lee” and the British-modified turret version the “Grant,” after famous American Civil War generals.
Grants made their combat debut in the North African Campaign, catching Rommel’s Afrika Korps off guard with their powerful 75mm hull-mounted gun. At the time, German tanks lacked the long-range, high-velocity guns to effectively counter the Grant. The tank’s solid armour, mechanical reliability, and firepower earned it a valued place in Allied armoured forces until the end of the desert campaign.
This variant includes additional trackguards, improving protection during engagements across varied theatres.
