Churchill Infantry Tank

The British Army’s doctrine combined light, fast Cruiser Tanks with slow but heavily armoured Infantry Tanks, designed to smash enemy defences with infantry support. The Churchill was a prime example of the latter, being one of the heaviest Allied tanks of the war, boasting thicker frontal armour than even the German Tiger!

Though often criticised for its underwhelming armament, a flaw shared by many British tanks of the era, the Churchill was highly regarded by its crews. It had unmatched cross-country mobility and was less prone to catastrophic explosions than the Sherman when hit.

As its name suggests, this tank was named after Prime Minister Winston Churchill, who had played a key role in developing tanks as a weapon during World War I. Its design, reminiscent of early Great War tanks, was produced by Vauxhall Motors and led to numerous variants, from the MkI with a 2-pounder gun to the MkVII with a 75mm gun. Specialized versions were also developed, featuring bridging equipment, mine-clearing devices, and a close-support option with a 95mm howitzer.

This plastic kit allows you to build up to seven different Churchill variants:

• MkIII – 6-pounder gun
• MkIV – Cast turret with 6-pounder gun
• MkV – Cast turret with 95mm howitzer
• MkVI – Cast or welded turret with 75mm gun
• NA 75 – Modified version with Sherman gun
• AVRE – Armoured Vehicle Royal Engineers with 290mm Petard Mortar (aka the "Flying Dustbin")

This vehicle is also compatible with Achtung Panzer!, the game of close-quarters tank combat. Rules for this model can be found in the Achtung Panzer! rulebook.
