Papyrus Dip is a Green Stuff World Dipping Ink marker designed to speed up miniature painting through contrast-style techniques. Ready to use and pre-filled with Dipping Ink paint, it applies colour directly to the miniature without requiring a brush, wet palette or additional container. The paint's fluid, transparent nature allows it to settle naturally into recesses while remaining lighter across raised areas, creating shadows, depth and tonal variation in a single application.
Fitted with a size 2 nib, the marker provides a practical balance between coverage and control. Its format makes it possible to work quickly across different areas of a miniature, making it particularly convenient when painting characters or larger wargaming armies. When finer control is needed, the size 2 nib can be replaced with a separately available size 1 replacement nib for smaller areas and more precise details.
For stronger contrast, Dipping Ink markers are best applied over a white or light-coloured primer. They can also be used over a Slapchop-style grisaille, where highlights and shadows have first been established using black, grey and white. These underlying value variations remain visible through the translucent paint, helping enhance the definition and depth of the finished miniature with minimal additional steps.
Before use, shake the marker thoroughly to properly mix the paint, then apply it directly to the surface, spreading it evenly as you work. Avoid repeatedly going back over areas where the paint has already begun to dry, as this can affect the final appearance.
The marker is also reusable and refillable. Once the original paint has been used, the GSW marker can be cleaned and refilled with another colour. It can accommodate Dipping Ink, airbrush paints and other acrylic paints with a suitable fluid consistency. Thicker paints can be adjusted with acrylic thinner until the required flow is achieved. Supplied with 6.5 ml of paint, Papyrus Dip can therefore become part of a reusable, customisable marker system for future modelling projects.
