For a pronounced contrast effect, begin with a white or light-coloured primer. The marker can also be used after a Slapchop preparation, where black, grey and white are used to establish the main light and shadow values beforehand. The translucent Dipping Ink then allows those underlying values to remain visible through the colour, enhancing the definition of the miniature’s volumes.

The size 2 nib is designed to provide efficient coverage while retaining control over the application. Since the paint is dispensed directly from the marker, there is no need for a brush, wet palette or additional container. This makes it easy to move quickly between different areas of a miniature, character or wargaming army. When a smaller application area calls for greater precision, the size 2 nib can be replaced with a separately available size 1 nib.

To prepare the marker for use, shake it thoroughly before painting. Apply the paint directly to the surface and distribute it evenly. Once the paint has started to dry, avoid repeatedly working over the same area to help maintain a consistent application.

The marker is also designed as a reusable painting tool. When the original contents have been exhausted, it can be cleaned and refilled with a new paint. Suitable options include Dipping Ink, airbrush paints and other acrylic paints with an appropriate consistency. Thicker paints can be adjusted with acrylic thinner when required. Replacement kits containing nibs and internal components are also available to renew the marker and extend its working life.
