Burgundy Dip

Its direct application keeps preparation to a minimum. Apply the paint straight from the marker, without setting up a brush, wet palette or additional container. The size 2 nib is designed to provide efficient coverage across the different areas of a miniature while maintaining useful control over the paint. This makes the format practical when working through multiple models or when keeping the painting process streamlined is a priority.

The surface underneath can be used to influence the final contrast. For a strong result, apply Burgundy Dip over a white or light-coloured primer. You can also establish your values beforehand with a Slapchop preparation, using black, grey and white. Because the Dipping Ink is translucent, these variations remain visible beneath the colour and contribute to the definition of the finished miniature.

Before painting, shake the marker thoroughly to ensure the paint is properly mixed. Apply it directly to the surface and distribute it evenly, avoiding excessive reworking once an area has started to dry. If more precision is needed for smaller details, the size 2 nib can be replaced with a separately available size 1 nib.

The marker can also be reused after the original paint has been consumed. Simply clean, refill and reuse it with suitable paints and new colours. Replacement kits with nibs and internal components are available to renew the marker and extend its useful life. Suitable refills include Dipping Ink, airbrush paints and other acrylic paints with an appropriate consistency. Thicker paints can be adjusted with acrylic thinner to reach a suitable flow before refilling.
