Seraphim Flesh Dip offers a direct way to build contrast across a miniature while keeping the painting process streamlined. Ready to use, the marker contains a fluid, translucent Dipping Ink paint that naturally follows the model’s sculpted volumes. It settles more heavily into recesses while remaining lighter across raised areas, creating variations in value that reveal shape, detail and depth with a single application.
The size 2 tip provides a practical balance between coverage and control. Because the paint is applied directly from the marker, there is no need to prepare a brush, wet palette or additional container. This keeps the workflow simple and makes it easy to move from one area to another, particularly when working through several miniatures in the same painting session.
To make the most of the paint’s translucent nature, start with a white or light-coloured primer. Seraphim Flesh Dip can also be applied over a Slapchop preparation, using black, grey and white to establish highlights and shadows before applying the colour. The underlying value structure remains visible through the Dipping Ink and contributes to the final contrast and definition.
A consistent result starts with the correct application technique. Shake the marker thoroughly before use, then apply the paint directly to the surface and distribute it evenly. Avoid excessive reworking over areas that have already begun to dry. For smaller details and more precise applications, the size 2 nib can be replaced with a separately available size 1 nib.
The marker can also be kept in use beyond its original fill. Once empty, it can be cleaned and refilled with suitable paints. Replacement kits containing nibs and internal components are available to renew the marker and extend its service life. Compatible refills include Dipping Ink, airbrush paints and other acrylic paints with suitable fluidity. Thicker paints can be adjusted with acrylic thinner to achieve the required consistency.
