Grey Mist Dip

The marker format keeps the process focused on the miniature itself. Its size 2 nib allows you to cover different areas efficiently while maintaining control over how the paint is distributed. Because the colour is applied straight from the marker, there is no need for a separate brush, wet palette or container during this stage. This can also help maintain a consistent workflow when moving from one miniature to the next.

The effect can be built around the preparation underneath. A white or light-coloured primer provides a clear base for the contrast to develop. For a more structured result, apply GREY MIST DIP over a Slapchop-style grisaille, first establishing the highlights and shadows with black, grey and white. The translucent Dipping Ink allows these underlying values to remain visible, adding further variation and helping emphasise the miniature’s sculpted definition.

Shake the marker well before use, then apply the paint directly to the surface and distribute it evenly. Try to avoid repeatedly working areas that have already started to dry, as this can affect the consistency of the finish. The size 2 nib can be exchanged for a separately available size 1 replacement nib when smaller areas require greater precision.

After the original 6.5 ml of paint has been used, the marker can continue to be part of your painting setup. Clean it and refill it with Dipping Ink, airbrush paint or another acrylic paint with a suitable consistency. Thicker paints can be adjusted with acrylic thinner to obtain the required flow. Replacement kits containing nibs and internal components are also available, allowing the marker to be maintained and reused with new colours, custom mixes and effects.
