Glorious Magenta Dip

The marker format keeps the application process simple: the paint does not need to be prepared on a palette or transferred into a separate container. Instead, it is applied directly through the size 2 nib, providing a practical balance of coverage and control. This makes it possible to work efficiently across individual areas or move quickly through several miniatures when painting characters and wargaming armies. For smaller areas requiring more precision, the nib can be replaced with a separately available size 1 nib.

The surface underneath provides the tonal foundation for the contrast effect. Applying the marker over a white or light-coloured primer allows the variations in the Dipping Ink to remain clearly visible. It can also be combined with a Slapchop workflow, using black, grey and white to establish highlights and shadows before applying the translucent colour. The underlying values remain visible and contribute to the definition of the miniature’s volumes.

Before painting, shake the marker thoroughly to homogenise the paint. Apply it directly to the miniature and distribute it evenly across the surface. Once an area has begun to dry, avoid excessive reworking so the paint can retain its intended distribution across recesses and raised details.

The marker is not limited to its original colour. Once the initial paint has been used, it can be cleaned and refilled with a new colour. Dipping Ink, airbrush paints and other acrylic paints with a suitable consistency can be used for refilling. Thicker paints can be adjusted with acrylic thinner to achieve the required flow. Replacement kits with nibs and internal components are also available to renew the marker and extend its useful life.
