Purple Vanity Dip

Everything about the marker is designed to keep this stage straightforward. The paint is applied directly from the marker, without requiring a brush, wet palette or additional container. Its size 2 nib provides a useful balance between coverage and control, making it suitable for working across different areas of a miniature. It can also simplify repetitive work when several models need to be painted using the same process.

The underlying values remain an important part of the technique. Applying PURPLE VANITY DIP over a white or light-coloured primer allows the contrast created by the translucent paint to stand out clearly. It can also be combined with a Slapchop-style grisaille, using black, grey and white beforehand to establish the main highlights and shadows. The Dipping Ink then allows these variations to show through the colour, helping strengthen the definition already established on the miniature.

Shake the marker thoroughly before use and apply the paint directly to the surface, spreading it evenly without repeatedly working areas that have already started to dry. The size 2 nib is designed for a balance of coverage and precision, while a separately available size 1 replacement nib can be fitted for smaller areas and finer work.

The marker can also remain useful after its original 6.5 ml fill has been consumed. Clean it and refill it with Dipping Ink, airbrush paint or another acrylic paint with a suitable flow. Thicker paints can be adjusted with acrylic thinner when necessary. Replacement kits containing nibs and internal components are available to help maintain the marker and continue using it for new colours, mixes and effects.
