GREEN SHARK SKIN DIP provides a fast way to bring out the sculpted depth of a miniature while allowing the underlying value work to remain visible. This ready-to-use Green Stuff World marker is filled with fluid, translucent Dipping Ink designed for contrast painting. As the paint settles into recesses and remains lighter over raised areas, it naturally creates variations in tone that help define the miniature’s forms.
The application process is deliberately straightforward. Instead of preparing a separate brush and palette, the paint can be applied directly from the size 2 marker nib. This provides a practical balance between coverage and control, making it possible to work across different areas of a model while maintaining a consistent application. The same approach can be repeated across multiple miniatures when painting units or armies.
For a strong contrast effect, apply the paint over a white or light-coloured primer. GREEN SHARK SKIN DIP can also be used over a Slapchop-style grisaille. By establishing highlights and shadows beforehand with black, grey and white, you create a value structure beneath the translucent colour. Once the Dipping Ink is applied, these variations remain visible and contribute to stronger contrast and clearer definition across the miniature.
Shake the marker thoroughly before painting and apply the colour directly to the surface, spreading it evenly as you work. Avoid repeatedly going back over areas that have already begun to dry. For smaller sections or areas where greater precision is required, the size 2 nib can be replaced with a separately available size 1 replacement nib.
Once the original 6.5 ml of paint has been used, the marker can be cleaned and put back into service. It can be refilled with Dipping Ink, airbrush paints or other acrylic paints with a suitable consistency. Thicker paints can be adjusted with acrylic thinner to achieve the required flow. Replacement kits with nibs and internal components are also available, allowing the marker to be maintained and reused for different colours, custom mixes and modelling effects.
